Landing 4/22/26 (Parachute included!)

Introduction

In this special episode of The BoatCast: The Podcast for Rock Boaters by Rock Boaters, the crew welcomes back Rock Boat fan faves Green Light Morning—Aaron Patrick, Aaron Bright, Ted Burger, and John “JB” Benham—along with special guest Ali Hammer. The band joins the show to celebrate and dive deep into their long-awaited first full-length album, Steady Your Feet.

This episode is packed with heart, storytelling, and the unmistakable spirit of the Rock Boat community, offering listeners an inside look at the music, the meaning, and the mission behind Green Light Morning’s latest project.

The New Album: Steady Your Feet

Green Light Morning’s new album, Steady Your Feet, represents years of songwriting, reflection, and perseverance. After narrowing down over 100 songs to a final tracklist, the band created what they describe as their most complete and meaningful work to date.

The album isn’t just a collection of songs—it’s a journey. From the opening track Parachute to the emotional closer Marty, the record carries a clear arc centered on resilience, healing, and moving forward after life’s hardest moments. As Aaron Bright explains, the concept reflects a progression: being caught when you fall… and then learning to stand again.

Listeners who have heard early previews praised the album for its emotional depth and cohesion, with several noting they didn’t skip a single track—something the band intentionally set out to achieve.

The Creative Process & Brian Fechino Collaboration

A major highlight of the episode is the band’s collaboration with producer Brian Fechino (of The Risky Beavers). Recording in Nashville, Fechino helped shape the album’s sound while keeping the band focused and organized through a demanding process.

From building arrangements to refining lyrics and structure, Fechino brought out the best in each member—balancing creativity with discipline. The band emphasized how his presence elevated both the musicianship and the final product.

Kickstarter & The Power of Community

One of the most meaningful aspects of Steady Your Feet is how it came to life: through the support of fans, friends, and the Rock Boat community.

The band used a Kickstarter campaign to fund the album, not only as a financial necessity but as a way to answer a deeper question—do people still want to hear from us?

The answer was a resounding YES!.

Supporters helped push the project from a smaller EP into a full-length album, proving once again the strength of the GLM “family.” The band shared both the rewards and challenges of crowdfunding, offering insight for other artists considering a similar path.

Themes: Loss, Healing, and Resilience

At its core, Steady Your Feet is deeply personal. The band members opened up about the real-life experiences that shaped the album—family illness, loss, and the emotional weight of navigating difficult seasons.

One of the most powerful moments comes in the discussion of the song Marty, written in memory of a close friend lost to cancer. The story behind the track—and the tribute it represents—captures the album’s emotional gravity and authenticity. As Aaron Patrick shares, the music continues to be healing even after its creation—a testament to the honesty poured into every song.

Songs to Watch (and Hear Live)

The band shared excitement about several standout tracks:

  • Parachute – A likely live favorite with strong emotional resonance

  • Steady Your Feet – Featuring a unique and dynamic musical breakdown

  • Marty – A deeply emotional and powerful closing track

  • You and Me – A fun, high-energy crowd song

  • The Answer – A unique and introspective standout

They also highlighted how certain songs were reimagined for the album, giving longtime fans fresh versions of familiar favorites.

Album Artwork & Storytelling

Beyond the music, the band put significant thought into the album’s visual storytelling. The artwork mirrors the emotional journey—starting with the parachute, moving through footsteps, and ultimately representing growth and forward motion.

Every detail—from imagery to sequencing—was designed to reflect the album’s central theme: finding your footing after life knocks you down.

Rock by the Sea & Giving Back

The conversation naturally turns to Rock by the Sea, a cornerstone of the band’s identity. More than just a music festival, it’s a philanthropic movement supporting pediatric cancer research and families in need.

The band shared heartfelt stories about the impact of the organization, emphasizing how music and community can create real, tangible change.

For Green Light Morning, this isn’t just about performing—it’s about Purpose.

Live Shows & What’s Next

With the album releasing on April 24, the band is gearing up for live performances across the country, including festivals, regional shows, and (hopefully) a return to The Rock Boat.

Their goal is simple: get the music out into the world and continue building connections through live experiences.

Closing Remarks

This episode captures everything that makes Green Light Morning special—authenticity, passion, and a deep connection to their fans.

Steady Your Feet isn’t just an album; it’s a reflection of life’s hardest moments and the strength it takes to move forward. And if this conversation is any indication, the band is stepping confidently into their next chapter.
